| Bio: | Name: Kathryn Anne Munroe, D.Sc Nickname/Alias: Kat to her friends, Dr. Munroe to everyone else. Gender: Female Age: 60 (looks in her early thirties) Date of Birth: October 13, 1975 Species:WerePanther (Melanistic Jaguar) Sexuality: Bisexual, with a preference for women PB: Sarah McLachlan Complete Physical Description: Human: Though her life, Kat has consistently been called 'petite', which annoys her to no end. She stands barely over five feet in height, and she is quite slender. She looks almost delicate, which of course is the opposite of what she is. People often underestimate her because of her size, something that she finds infuriating. Most people, even other woman, stand taller than her. Her eyes are large, soft and brown, her body lithe but with slender, gentle curves. Despite this, however, something in the way she speaks and moves hint at her strength and confidence. The only real thing of note about her human appearance other than her smallness is the slight point to her ears, something that she only gained when she was bitten and changed. Were: While in her halfway form, Kat is a bit disturbing to look at. First, her eyes glow, changing from her normal soft brown orbs to a brilliant amber hue. Her hair darkens to a midnight black, and spreads down over her body to cover her completely in a coarse layer. Her body stretches upwards so that she stands nearer to six feet than five, and her muscles strengthen. She remains fairly slender, but there is no doubt while looking at her in this form that she has strength. Her nose flattens and her face contorts into something that is barely recognizable as herself. She gains a short muzzle filled with sharp teeth, and her ears become more sharply pointed. Her nails turn into sharp claws as well. Animal: In her full animal form, it's impossible to really tell that Kat isn't actually a black panther. Like all melanistic jaguars, she appears to be pure black, though when one gets very close to her, her black on black spots can be seen. She weighs in at well over 200 pounds in this form, and her length from the tip of her nose to the end of her tail is about seven and a half feet. Her eyes are a bright amber color. ![]() Personality: The term 'Ice Queen bitch' has been thrown around quite frequently around Kat, and in many ways, it suits her. She, nore often than not, uses logic to make her decisions, not emotion. In a man, perhaps, it would be seen as admirable but in a woman, most find it bizarre and not quite natural. It isn't that she doesn't feel emotion, because she certainly does. She simply does not allow it to control her. She prides herself on staying calm and rational at all times. However, she does feel passionately about certain things, and for them she would do nearly anything. Science is really her only love at this point, and her fascination with this subject hasn't changed since she was a child. She's a strong example of a feminist woman, and is a Dianic Wiccan. Background/History: Kat's parents, both highly intellectual environmentalists, had decided not to have children. There were too many people in the world already, they didn't want to add to the population, and neither of them felt any real desire to procreate. That was all very well and good, until Beth, her mother, missed her period. Nine months later, a baby girl was born. Beth Munroe and Jonathan MacKenzie named her Kathryn Anne, and as her parents were unmarried, she kept her mothers surname despite opposition from both families. The baby grew up well enough, for her parents were simply too ethical not to do a good job with raising her. Her childhood was filled with a lot of intellectual stimulation, and with her parents encouragement, she learned to care for the environment, but there wasn't a lot of affection given to her. She didn't seem negatively affected by this, except for a tendancy to shun the company of others. Even as a toddler, she was perfectly fine with playing by herself for hours, and on the rare occasions that she did recieve affection, she seemed uncertain and not entirely comfortable. When she was six years old, her father gave her a gift that would change her life forever. It was a telescope, and from there on in, Kat would anxiously wait for clear nights to look at the sky. She quickly learned to identify the stars and planets. Her love of astronomy continued on even into high school, and she ignored the other children in favor of her telescope. She also developed a love, though not as intense, for other forms of science. She could always be found either with her telescope or test tube, and the only other students she had time for were the ones that shared her interests. Everyone else, she was convinced, was unintelligant, and she wasn't going to bother with them. Graduating at the top of her class from high school, she had no problem obtaining a full scholarship to any university of her choice. She picked UCLA simply because it was recognized at the time as having the best astronomy program. Her goal was simple. She would get the education she needed to be hired on by NASA. A bit ambitious, but then she'd never failed at anything she'd put her mind to and she saw no reason that she wouldn't succeed in this. Her entire life, however, shifted after graduation from university. From the very first time she'd peered through a telescope, she'd known that she would have to work for NASA. However, even after all her hard work and her excellent grades upon graduation from university, NASA declined to interview her for a position. For the first time in her life, she was at a loss for what to do. What use was a Doctorate of Science specializing in astronomy? It was her father who gave her the answer. Why not teach? It would only take a further year of school, and then she could help guide the youth into a love for science, and the environment as well. It seemed as good a choice as any, so the young woman quickly took the course, got her teaching certificate, and with the ink barely dry on her diploma, she had a position at a private high school. For many years, she taught there. Her life became predictable. The students changed, but they were all pretty much interchangable to her. Yes, she cared about them, and wanted them to learn, but most of them really had no interest in science, which was all she taught. However, one of the few things her hippy mother had given to her was a deep respect for the earth in the form of the religion of Wicca. Kat embraced this, and it helped her through the years through hundreds of students who didn't seem to care much about anything, let alone test tubes and microscopes. There was one student who was special, though. Her name was Jo, and, though Kat didn't know it, she was a werepanther. She was also one of the few students who actually tried in Kat's class. The two of them developed a friendship, and that would have some serious reprecussions on Kat's life. And there was one teacher, one who taught autoshop, ironically, and she fell in love with him. His name was Ken Williams, and they became lovers, though at first they hated each other and got along like oil and water. Kat became pregnant with Ken's baby, and the pregnancy was a difficult one. To add to this, Ken was bitten by a vampire and turned, and after much soul searching, Kat decided that he would bite her and turn her, too, after she'd had her baby. However, in the later afternoon, she almost died as she gave birth. Jo rushed in at the last minute, just as she was flatlining, and bit her, turning her into a lycan. Life went on, and Kat left the school along with Ken and their new baby, Gabrielle, leaving Jo behind. She wasn't too sure what to say to her, and she had a whole new life ahead of her. Still, it hurt to leave, but she did it, and for years, she lived and worked with her own little family. It was the meteor that changed things, however, or she might have lived on with Ken and their human daughter indefinitely. Kat finally got the job at NASA, because of the meteor that threatened. She worked hard, but it was a hopeless cause, and she became depressed. One lapse in judgement had her at a bar, drunk, and before she knew it she'd picked up a human named Felix and brought him to a hotel room. They spent the night together, and by the end of it, he was a lycan, bitten in the midst of passion. Though she knew she shouldn't she continued to see him, and on the day the meteor struck, she was with him. It also happened to be when Ken found out about them, and he took their daughter and left her. Enraged, hurt, and guilty, Kat drove Felix away, too, and wandered. Eventually, she found her way to Las Vegas, and formed something of a life there. She reunited with Jo and slowly, gradually, the two formed a romantic relationship. She found a job for herself, teaching the lycan children in the orphanage, and things seemed to be good, on the surface, as though her run of bad luck might actually be over. That was, until she encountered the Sanguine Prince Valerian. Not only did she meet him, but she angered him with her passion about equality, and in response for her insolence, he raped her in front of an entire bar full of lycans. Kat's punishment was supposed to teach lycans their place, but all it really did was make a bunch of them mad. From there, Kat's life pretty much fell apart. She had a nasty fight with her previous lover, Felix James, who had come to town recently and dared to defend vampires to the recently violated woman, and her relationship with Jo was strained by the fact that Jo actually worked for the Sanguine. She joined the Lycan Domination Front, and helped them with a kidnapping, so that one of Prince Valerian's slaves was freed to the dam - and Kat decided to stay there, acting as a sort of liason between the humans at the dam and the Lycans of the LDF. A friend, however, decided that she didn't belong there, and her place was back in Vegas, which brought her back. But whether she'll be able to handle living in the place where her life was so brutally changed is another question entirely. ![]() Weaknesses: Of course, Kat's main weakness is to silver, which she is intensely allergic to. She could also be hurt by heart trauma, head trauma, and if she lost enough blood before her natural healing abilities kicked in, she could die. Quite aside from this, she is a woman who doesn't trust easily, keeps herself emotionally distant for the most part from others, and is quite high-strung at times. She's also not always the best in social situations. Strengths: Kat is a small woman, but she is far stronger than she appears. She heals almost instantly from most injuries and has keen, strong senses. As well, she is incredibly intelligent, and very good at anything to do with science. Her logic lets her look at most issue without emotion clouding the way, and more often than not, she does the right thing. Talents, Abilities and Hobbies: Science is really her one love, specifically astronomy. She is a talented chemist, and is obviously quite proficient in physics and biology. As well as the stars, she cares greatly for the earth as well, and Geology and other Earth Sciences are a special love of hers. She is a good teacher, as long as she cares about the subject she's teaching. Likes: Microscopes, computers, candles, incense, books, reading, anything to do with Science, really. Dislikes: Many people, non-intellectuals, arrogance, people who pollute, sexism. Family and Friends: Her parents are Beth Munroe and Jonathan MacKenzie. Her previous lovers are Ken Williams, Felix James, and Jo Fairchild. Her daughter is Gabrielle Munroe. Her friends are all within the LDF, especially Bjorn Sorensen, though she's very devoted and protective toward all of them. Housing of Character: Bally's How Long In Vegas: One year Occupation: Teacher ![]() [This isn't real! It's just a journal for a roleplaying PB community.
